Knowing / Understanding Who You Are
Knowing Who you are to become all that God wants you to be:
This teaching is one
that is crucial and very important. We are in a time and season where many are
brought into the faith but are living less of the life that Christ has called
us into and given to us. I wanted to write on our place as God's workmanship
but then I thought within me that if we do not understand fully our place in
Christ Jesus, in the Kingdom who we are, what we are and have and where we are
we are bound to live a life of
nonentity.
I once read/heard about
an eaglet caught by a farmer and kept among his chicks, the eaglet and
chicks grew up together and move around together picking pebbles. The eagle
with it potential as the king of birds (I won’t want to go into the life of
eagles because of time but you can do well to search about it online so you can
get the picture clear) was picking pebbles and walking weakly among chicks. On
one of there outings this eaglet now grown into an eagle met a strange creature flying
over them and as the chicks dash for safety it also went after them, This
strange creature who happened to be another eagle saw this eagle scrambling for
safety as the chicks and went for it, they had a little discussion, the former
was reoriented and before long this same eagle crawling among chicks was soon
found soaring high with it mate that came for
it.
Lessons to pick from the above fables:
Even though as believers we have eternal life in us which is
the God kind of life because we are born of God, the farmer of the world (The
devil) has veiled our heart by keeping us among his chicks therefore limiting
us from giving expression to this life we have been called out to. The devil is
not all powerful but he is very strategic and cunningly wise in his dealings
with men especially believers. All he needs do to bound a believer though a
son; one who has been made partaker of the Divine nature is veil our mind for
seeing that which we are in Christ Jesus.
2Peter 1 vs 3-4: According
as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and
virtue: [4] Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust.)
That’s why the prayer of Apostle Paul for the church at
Ephesus was not to receive power but rather that the eyes of their
understanding might be enlightened in the knowledge of Christ for this is the
way to br filled with all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3vs 14-20: For this cause I bow my knees unto the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, [15] Of whom the whole family in heaven and
earth is named, [16] That he would grant you, according to the riches of his
glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; [17] That
Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in
love, [18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and
length, and depth, and height; [19] And to know the love of Christ, which
passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. [20]
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or
think, according to the that worketh in us, [21] Unto him be glory in the
church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. that
worketh in us, [21] Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout
all ages, world without end. Amen.
Give yield to this Sir/Ma, our problem is not that we lack
power. All this meetings we are going for and falling and rising only to go
back to our defeated life is not what we need. What we need is for the Holy
Spirit to reveal Christ to us. For it is when Christ is reveal to us and in us
that we can give expression to this life we have and have been called into.
Listen Sirs/ma that we are dozing off why reading the Bible, that we can’t give
to prayer for just an hour, that a situation comes to shake us and we are shook
by it like a leave (Proverbs 24 vs 10 makes us know that if we faint in the day
of adversity then our strength is small), that we do not have boldness to speak
to a soul about Christ( this is also talking to me), that we see the sick,
lame, blind and all form of deformities, infirmities and we can't provide a
solution is not because we do not have power to do all this but it’s because we
do not know( The Father speaking in Hosea 4 vs 6 that His people are destroyed
for lack of knowledge). What we need are not impartation meetings(mind you I am
not belittling this operation in the Kingdom for even Apostle Paul writing
to the Romans in Romans1 vs 11 says he
longs to see them, that he may impart unto them some spiritual gifts, to the
end that they may be established), many of us have gone for a lot of this,
jumping from one meetings and man of God to another, what we really need is a
knowing. The church needs lot of knowing meetings today, where people are made
to know who we are in Christ Jesus. Until there is a knowing then we can’t give
expression to this life we have. Even Christ made us know in John 17vs 3: And
this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus
Christ, whom thou hast sent.
So we see there, that this life we have got and we seek is
not in jumping around for impartation but rather it is in knowing. Even the
church was established by revelation of Christ
Matthew 16 vs 13-19: When Jesus came into the coasts of
Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the
Son of man am? [14] And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:
some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. [15] He saith unto
them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou
art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said
unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not
revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. [18] And I say also
unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and
the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19] And I will give unto thee
the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be
loosed in heaven.
There you will find that the church was established in power
and given to dominate but the truth is that I found out a large fragment of the
church is far from this reality, why? There is no knowing, no revealing of the
person of Christ to the church. This power given to us can only be expressed in
us and given expression to when we know. You can’t give expression to what you
don’t know.
See what most people don’t realize is that there is a two
way dimension to the gospel. There is the gospel of salvation and also the
gospel of the kingdom. Many of us have know Christ to be the savior but we
haven’t come to reality of his kingship dimension, which is characterize by
dominion, power and glory. See don’t let anyone bamboozle you with words.
Revelations 1 vs 6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;
to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
That’s who we are . Until we come to the reality of this
dimensions as both Priests and Kings which we are, which are both office of
knowing. It takes the revelation/knowing of who we are and what we are called
into to function both as a priest and king. For it is when the kingdom is reveal
to us that we come to the knowing that
the kingdom of our God is not in words but in power.
Note this: until you know you can’t become. You can’t become
what you don’t know.
Our knowing is what will cause us to study more, give more to prayer, fast more, preach more
and give more and wholly to this course.
Knowing is quite crucial to our walk in faith. It's what you
know that you will give yield to. It's that which has been revealed to you,
made manifest to you that you can give to. See we can't give wholly or be spent
for the course if we do not come to this realities.
See it is in knowing that we get convinced and are fully
persuaded and never apologetic of this faith.
We are not to be sympathize with or pity. This kingdom life
is our life, our culture. And we can't fully live or give expression to this
life until we come to know.
Apostle John in his epistle in 1John1 vs 1-4 is saying that
you see this life that has been made manifest to you through us is that wish we
have see, touch, handled. We know this life. 1John1vs
3-4:That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen
with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the
Word of life; [2] (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it , and bear
witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and
was manifested unto us;) [3] That which we have seen and heard declare we unto
you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with
the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. [4] And these things write we unto you,
that your joy may be full.
The problem with the church today is that those we heard and
met who preached this gospel never truly had an encounter with the person of
Christ. They haven't come to this reality they do not know.
Why do you think Apostle Paul will be praying in Philippians
3vs 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the
fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
There we see knowing again.
Do you know that this same Apostle in Galatians 1 vs
15-17:But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and
called me by his grace, [16] To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him
among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: [17]
Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I
went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
There he's saying God revealed his Son, Jesus to him so why
is he still saying he wants to know him in Philippians. That's to tell you that
knowing is a process, it's in level and it's continuous.
Though the Holy Ghost has many thing to say to us but I
think I will stop at this point for us to reflect and meditate on what we have
learnt. Take it to God in prayer.
